Each MiniCine animated film consisted of a set of 92 frames in four columns,
24 frames across, on standard 35mm film
By turning the handle, on the rear of the machine, moving pictures
could be shown,
and the film moved with an intermittent motion up and down the column
showing frames 1, 2, 3, 4, 3, 2, 1, etc
At the same time the film slowly moved sideways to the next column
Each film was 12 inches in length, and ran for 5 minutes
This makes a rate of 3.26 frames per second (at not too fast a crank rate)
The projector had as flicker shutter, of sorts, and even at this low frame rate the flicker was not too objectionable
Still films also were also produced
These had 92 frames on 35mm film
Each frame was positioned behind the lens by turning a knob on top
of the projector
Then there were the Eagle films
These were of characters in the Eagle Comic
Eagle films were 7.5inches in length, and had a larger film frame
No animated films were produced in the Eagle size as the Eagle projector was only designed for still pictures
These films could also be projected by the Super MiniCine
I am trying to find an example of the Eagle machine to place a photo on this site
Most still films were of an educational nature, whilst the animated films were mainly cartoon story films
Films were released at about two per month
Altogether 314 different titles were produced
Film prices were Black & White 2 Shillings & Six Pence (122 New Pence)
Colour 3 Shillings & Six Pence (172 New Pence)
