Ernemann 2 projector

The Ernemann 2 model was first produced by Zeiss Icon in Dresden in 1925
The first Ernemann 2 projector were imported into New Zealand and installed at the
Regent Theatre, Wellington in March 1928
The last Ernemann 2 shipped into New Zealand was installed at the Vogue Theatre, Wellington for its opening in June 1939
Originally silent during the late 20s and early 30s they were converted with the NZ made Fisher sound head
With the introduction of Cinemascope films in the early 1950s the Ernemann 2 had to be modified to take the cinemascope lens so they were converted from the front shutter to the drum type of shutter located behind the film gate, known as the workhorse of cinema projection for their reliability, these Ernemann machines throughout  their development shaped and projected our screen image for 90 years
Ernemann 2 are still in use in some New Zealand cinemas today
The projector in the photos is used in our home cinema and was converted to 24volt 300watt lamp
in front of the original 8 inch mirror

the projector is in excellent condition and with a new photo electric cell and pre amp the sound although only mono is amazing  the projector came from the Oxford town hall North Canterbury and was fitted second hand in the 30s and  used up to the mid 1990s
