These are the old type of certificates
There were three types of classification
U Cert. Suitable for all ages
A Cert. Only people above the age of 16 years were allowed unaccompanied
If under sixteen then they had to be accompanied by a person of sixteen or older
This led to children waiting outside the cinema, and asking anybody older than sixteen to
"Take us in"
Only if you were stupid did you do this as you now became responsible for them
X Cert. Only people of sixteen or over allowed
I believe that this X cert was not in use until the 1950s
An H Cert was tried for a very short time
This was for horror films
